Finally after 25 days of hot, hard training with many new players coming into the squad, the Academy (Westfield FC) got their Allied Counties Youth Southern Division League underway on Wednesday night at Woking Park with a emphatic 5 -1 win over Bracknell Town.

In a commanding performance from every player that pulled on a yellow shirt, Westfield could have been out of sight inside the opening 15 minutes when Adam Khan had 3 or 4 opportunities to open the scoring, but a combination of last ditch tackles and a bit of bad luck stopped the home side taking the lead.

A excellent crowd finally had something to cheer about when from a Max Workman corner from the left, saw skipper Michael Hagan out jumped everybody and his header was touched on by Khan to flick the ball into the net on 17 minutes.

6 minutes later a carbon copy of the first saw the home team double their lead with Khan getting his second.

The academy were well on top and only the odd long shot from Bracknell stopped the home side from playing the game in one half of the pitch.

The second half was much the same as the first 45 and two goals to Jed Brown and one to Titi Babington rounded out the scoring. It was the perfect start to the season sees Westfield sit top of the League table, with a big game to come on Monday, away against Shoreham in the first qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup.
